Dwayne Peel showed British & Irish Lions coach Sir Clive Woodward that last week’s man-of-the-match performance in the Six Nations against Scotland was no flash in the pan with a second award in Wales’ Grand Slam win against Ireland.
Peel was at the heart of many of Wales’ best attacking moves in their 32-20 Millennium Stadium triumph which secured the Principality’s first clean sweep since 1978.
And with Woodward due to name his touring party on April 11, Peel’s performances throughout the championship have surely guaranteed him a place in the squad, if not the starting line-up.
But Peel was simply delighted to have been a part of Wales’ historic triumph amid jubiliant scenes in the Welsh capital.
"It is brilliant. It is a credit to the team. We have come through some dark periods," he told the BBC.
"The fans came out and the boys performed. It is awesome. There were also 40,000 fans in Scotland last week, and it is just awesome.
"They came at us all guns blazing but we played very well and defended the line. We gave it everything we’d got.
"For Wales to win the Grand Slam for the first time in 27 years is something special."
