Jonny Wilkinson gave British & Irish Lions boss Sir Clive Woodward a welcome boost by completing a full 80 minutes of rugby as Newcastle Falcons beat London Irish 23-16 at Kingston Park.
England’s World Cup winning fly-half scored six penalties and played with increasing assurance in a performance which could help book his ticket on the Lions’ plane to New Zealand.
Newcastle director of rugby Rob Andrew said: "His goalkicking was good and we kicked well and long and asked them to play.
"He looked in good nick."
