New Zealand flanker Richie McCaw made his return from injury in the Crusaders’ 40-20 victory over the Hurricanes in Christchurch on Friday.
McCaw, who is expected to take his place in the All Blacks squad for the Test series against the British & Irish Lions, has been sidelined since being knocked unconscious in a Super 12 game against the Bulls in April.
His arrival in the 48th minute was greeted by a deafening roar from the crowd and his presence seemed to inspire the Crusaders, who took the game away from the Hurricanes in the second half after leading only 18-13 at the break.
Johnny Leo’o and Rico Gear scored two tries apiece as the Crusaders outscored their opponents by six tries to two.
