Argentina coach Marcelo Loffreda has announced his squad to face the British & Irish Lions in Cardiff later this month.
Loffreda was unable to call on the injured trio of Lucas Ostiglia, Martin Durand and Marcos Ayerza while Stade Francais duo Agustin Pichot and Rodrigo Roncero, plus Toulouse’s Omar Hasan, are absent because they will be playing in the European Cup final 24 hours prior to the Pumas’ match on May 23.
Loffreda has named a 22-man squad for the clash but has also called up five extra players in case of injury – Alumni duo Jaime Arocena and Miguel Avramovic, Alvaro Galindo of Universitario, Hindu’s Pablo Henn and Bernardo Stortoni, who plays his rugby for English club Bristol.
Argentina squad: Mauricio Reggiardo, Mario Ledesma, Jose Maria Nunez Piossek (All Castres), Federico Mendez, Eusebio Guinazu (both Mendoza), Leopoldo De Chazal (Universitario), Mariano Sambucetti (Buenos Aires), Manuel Carizza (Jockey Club), Pablo Bouza (Duendes), Martin Schusterman (Plymouth Albion), Juan Manuel Leguizamon, Lucio Lopez Fleming, Federico Serra (all SIC), Federico Genoud (Los Tordos), Santiago Sanz (CASI), Nicolas Fernandez Miranda, Francisco Bosch (both Hindu), Federico Todeschini (Beziers), Felipe Contepomi (Leinster), Francisco Leonelli Morey (La Tablada), Lisandro Arbizu (Bayonne), Lucas Borges (Stade Francais).
