New Zealand coach Graham Henry has called up Kevin Senio to his Tri-Nations squad as cover for first-choice scrum-half Byron Kelleher.
Kelleher received a head injury during the All Blacks’ 22-16 loss to South Africa in Cape Town on Saturday, forcing him to leave the field early.
Senio, a Junior All Black and Bay of Plenty prospect, has stepped up to challenge Piri Weepu for a place in the starting XV.
Kelleher is now a doubt for the All Blacks’ second game against Australia next weekend, and there are also concerns over captain Tana Umaga.
The midfielder left the field with an ankle injury, leaving Henry short of cover at centre and second five-eighth following Conrad Smith’s illness.
