New Zealand Sevens coach Gordon Tietjens has not ruled out the possibility of Jonah Lomu making an appearance at next year’s Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
The giant wing, who is working his way back to fitness after shoulder surgery and a kidney transplant, was part of the gold medal-winning team at the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Games which he credited as being "the biggest highlight of my career".
Tietjens said he had not discussed Games selection with Lomu but told The Sunday Star-Times: "He’s been in the team before and if he can get fit there is no reason why he couldn’t make the team."
