Toulouse and France hooker William Servat could be out of action for up to three months after injuring his neck.
The 27-year-old sustained the injury during Toulouse’s Top 14 encounter with Perpignan last weekend.
Although no decision has yet been made, there is a high chance that Servat will have to undergo surgery as one of the nerves is trapped.
"We have given ourselves a full week of rest and thought before deciding on (either) specialist treatment or surgery," said club doctor Christophe Prat.
If Servat does need an operation then it would likely keep him out of action until Christmas, meaning he would miss France’s Tests against Australia, Canada, Tonga and South Africa in November.
