Wasps winger Tom Voyce heads to Bristol on Sunday determined to produce an eye-catching performance and send another reminder to England head coach Andy Robinson ahead of the RBS 6 Nations clash with Scotland.
With his Wasps team-mate Josh Lewsey out injured, Voyce is the incumbent England full-back – but he feels a long way from making the position his own.
Lewsey injured his shoulder against Wales but could be fit to face Scotland next weekend – so Voyce has targeted Wasps’ trip to the Memorial Stadium as an ideal opportunity to state his own case for Calcutta Cup selection.
"I have been looking forward to this game. It is nice to get back to the club and it is nice to have a change of scenery," he said.
"It keeps your rugby head nice and free and relaxed.
"I want to put in another good performance and keep the pressure on Andy Robinson. Josh has been unfortunate with his injury, but he would come back in the side because he has always played well for England.
"For me, it is about giving Andy Robinson selection headaches."
Voyce starts on the wing for Wasps alongside England colleagues Lawrence Dallaglio, Simon Shaw and Matt Dawson; Ireland internationals Eoin Reddan and Jonny O’Connor start on the bench.
Joe Worsley is rested, and Raphael Ibanez is still recovering from a knock he picked up playing for France.
