South Africa boss Jake White has warned Scotland his forwards can play even better ahead of this weekend’s second Test.
The Springboks pack demolished the tourists in Durban on Saturday, driving their team to a 36-16 victory, and White has kept faith with the same eight for the Port Elizabeth encounter.
"Scotland will have to take on our forwards to win," White said.
"We are proud of our pack and have retained the same eight that started in Durban. Our forwards want to improve on certain things that we achieved in the first Test."
South Africa are unbeaten at home under White and the coach will be looking to equal the national record of 13 consecutive victories on their own soil.
In choosing to retain the same forwards when he named his side on Wednesday, White gave another week’s rest to stalwarts Jacques Cronje and Bakkies Botha.
Cronje lines up on the bench alongside tighthead CJ van der Linde and lock Albert van den Berg.
"I have deliberately, with a view to the World Cup tournament next year, given the forwards another chance to play together," White added.
"Last Saturday’s match gave an indication of what we want to achieve."
White is expecting a backlash from the Scots, who recorded famous victories over England and France in the Six Nations this season.
"We have too much experience to underestimate Scotland," White said.
"The forwards will aim to live up to the expectations created by the Scottish challenge.
"Scotland is a proud rugby nation and it will be a huge challenge."
In order to remove any possibility of an upset and a drawn series, White has urged his backs to be more ruthless.
"We also want to improve our finishing, because we failed to take at least three try-scoring opportunities in the first Test," he said.
The Boks face France the following weekend before heading into an extended Tri-Nations series.
