Stephen Hoiles is confident a move to the Brumbies will boost his chances of earning a call-up to the Australia team for next year’s World Cup.
The back-row forward has signed a two-year deal with the Canberra outfit and believes he will be able to grow under the guidance of the side’s experienced players.
"The Brumbies have an excellent track record of developing players and grooming them for Test rugby," the 24-year-old said.
"With the World Cup a year away, I want to be putting myself in the best position to wear a Wallaby jumper.
"Playing regular football with established Test players, like Stephen Larkham and George Gregan, can only improve my chances of making it to France next year."
The Brumbies are in training ahead of the new Australian Provincial Championship (APC) that kicks off next month, and Hoiles is looking forward to putting on a show.
"The whole concept is very exciting," he said of the APC.
"With the strong interstate rivalries and Wallaby positions up for grabs, it’ll make for a great spectacle.
"I’m looking forward to running on for the Brumbies and playing the exciting brand of football that they’re renowned for."
Former Queensland Reds utility back Julian Huxley has also made the move to the Brumbies in the hope of forcing his way into an Australia jersey.
The playmaker, who has already played Under-19, Under-21, Sevens and ‘A’ level rugby for Australia, believes his best chance of realising his international goals lies with the Brumbies.
"It’s a very happy homecoming for me," he said.
"Canberra’s where my serious rugby began and it’s great to be back.
"I still have personal goals of playing for the Wallabies and it’s at the Brumbies that I know my game will develop and where these goals are most likely to be realised.
"I feel very comfortable here – playing with the Brumbies suits my style of play and it’s somewhere where I really enjoy my rugby."
