England head coach Andy Robinson can include Mark Cueto in his plans for the November internationals after the Sale winger escaped any major damage to his ankle.
Robinson, who is due to name his 30-man squad on Wednesday, faced an anxious wait after Cueto limped off just 12 minutes into the Sharks’ Heineken Cup defeat to the Ospreys on Friday.
But a scan revealed good news and Cueto is now aiming to be fit for Sale’s European clash with Calvisano at Edgeley Park this Friday.
He said: "The ankle eased over the weekend and I am happy with the scan results.
"There is fluid around the joint, which is to be expected but the Sale Sharks physio team are looking after me and I am aiming to be fit for the weekend."
There were also concerns over Josh Lewsey after he limped out of Wasps’ win over Castres with a tight hamstring.
But the move was only precautionary and Lewsey has been assessed by the Wasps medics and given clearance to return to training this week.
Lewsey expects to be in action this coming weekend, when Wasps travel to face Perpignan in the south of France.
Fears the French side’s prop Perry Freshwater broke his leg against Treviso were also eased after a scan reportedly showed he had suffered only heavy bruising.
Freshwater, who was born in New Zealand, is in line to make his full England Test debut in the autumn campaign opener against the All Blacks on November 5.
It was a good news day for Robinson, who has not had too many of them this year as he prepares to lead his side into a huge autumn and the start of a World Cup year.
A week after locking horns with the Tri-Nations champions, England face Argentina before back-to-back Tests against South Africa.
Robinson had barely half of his elite squad fit to take part in the first two pre-autumn training camps at Loughborough University.
England are still without Jonny Wilkinson, Olly Barkley, Stuart Abbott, James Simpson-Daniel, Steve Thompson and Steve Borthwick.
