Northampton boss Paul Grayson has welcomed the possible return to Franklin’s Gardens of former Saints and England star Tim Rodber.
Rodber, who won more than 40 England caps between 1992 and 1999, is thought to be in the frame for a recruitment director role as Northampton restructure their management team.
Saints are creating the new post following Budge Pountney’s departure last month.
Grayson said: "The club has advertised for a recruitment director and we are in the process of looking at the applications at the moment.
"If it was to be Tim Rodber, I would welcome it as he is a good friend and godfather to my son, but whoever gets the job I will be happy to work with them."
On the field, injury-hit Northampton edged closer to a Heineken Cup quarter-final place by polishing off Pool Six minnows Overmach Parma 36-0, giving them a points aggregate of 104 in two games against the tournament’s whipping boys.
The win was accomplished without half-a-dozen injured midfield backs, which forced scrum-half Ian Vass to play at 10 and New Zealander Carlos Spencer to start at outside centre.
Grayson added: "We probably should have scored eight tries from driving mauls, but we didn’t get given any penalties and they all stopped in the same place – collapsed two feet short of the line.
"They clearly came to defend, and it was frustrating, but now all we can do is focus on Wasps in the Guinness Premiership next Friday night. They will be a completely different prospect."
