Former New Zealand fly-half Andrew Mehrtens is considering a coaching career.
Mehrtens linked up with his former All Blacks captains Tana Umaga and Anton Oliver and a host of other international stars at Toulon.
And although the ex-Crusaders and Harlequins outside half previously discounted a career in coaching, the 35-year-old is now eyeing a switch to the bench.
"I never would have thought it," he told The Herald on Sunday. "I didn’t think I could be serious enough, but perhaps I can.
"As a senior player you’re already looking at a slightly bigger picture, you’re trying to help the guys around you. That said, even though I’ve played at a professional level for a number of years, coaching is a skill in itself, and I’d be prepared to learn, even at a junior level.
"Maybe here, maybe in New Zealand. My intention is to go back to New Zealand and raise my family, but I haven’t put a time limit on it."
