South Africa coach Peter de Villiers has released four players from his 28-man squad for the Mandela Challenge match against Argentina at Ellis Park on Saturday.
De Villiers released utility backs Frans Steyn and Ruan Pienaar, winger Odwa Ndungane and prop Gurthro Steenkamp for the match, which will be played in the honour of former state president Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.
The game, which is a repeat of the World Cup semi-final last year in France, is likely to be a trial run before the home leg of the Tri-Nations.
The Bok squad was cut to 28 after the withdrawal through injury of number eight Ryan Kankowski and fly-half Peter Grant last week.
Victor Matfield will captain the side.
