Wales hooker Huw Bennett will undergo tests on an injured ankle today as the Dragons begin their final week of preparations for Saturday’s game against the Springboks.
The Ospreys No2 limped off during his side’s EDF Energy Cup defeat to London Irish in Reading yesterday and could miss Wales’ encounter with the World Champions as a result.
However, Bennett has reported to the Wales camp as expected, with head coach Warren Gatland hoping that his injury is nothing more than a minor strain.
"We are unsure about his injury at this stage,” said Ospreys coach Jonathan Humphreys, himself a former Wales hooker.
“He is being looked at by the medical staff, and he will report to the Wales camp on Monday."
Bennett is currently favourite to start for his country in the first of four back-to-back internationals, although Gatland could also call on fellow Osprey Richard Hibbard or Matthew Rees of the Scarlets.
