World Cup winning coach Jake White could be following fellow South African Heyneke Meyer into the coaching hot-seat at Leicester Tigers.
According to the Sunday Times in South Africa, White has been formally approached by the Tigers to take over from Meyer, who had to quit his post after only a few months this season because of personal reasons.
The Tigers brought in Meyer to take over from former Argentina coach Marcello Loffreda, who joined shortly after the Pumas finished third in the 2007 Rugby World Cup and was sacked in June 2008, and now White is apparently at the head of their latest list of candidates.
Biarritz Olympique and the United States are also thought to be interested in wooing White away from South Africa, but it looks as though the challenge of taking up the reins at England’s most successful club is likely to win his vote.
White has been out of coaching since he stepped down from the Springboks job after winning the Webb Ellis Trophy in France 18 months ago. Since then he has written his autobiography, worked with the Barbarians and done some brief consultancy work at Saracens and Toulon.
