South African international Butch James has been cleared of stamping after being brought before an RFU Disciplinary Panel.
The World Cup winner had been in danger of missing the remainder of the season if found guilty of stamping on Riki Flutey during Bath’s Guinness Premiership win over Wasps last Wednesday.
Instead, a panel chaired by His Honour Judge Jeff Blackett found there was no case to answer and therefore no sanction needed.
James, who still hopes to be involved for the Springboks against the Lions this summer despite Peter de Villiers’ decision to favour players playing their club rugby in South Africa, is therefore available for Bath’s Heineken Cup quarter-final at Leicester on Saturday.
