British & Irish Lions injury victim Jerry Flannery is well on the way to a full recovery from the elbow problem that ruled him out of the 2009 tour to South Africa.
Ireland’s 2009 Grand Slam hooker chipped a bone on his left elbow during training ahead of the Lions tour and was ruled out at the eleventh hour. He was forced to have an operation, but is now back training with the Irish squad.
Flannery is among a group of 13 Munster players who are currently training with Declan Kidney’s Irish national squad in Belfast. The Magners League champions are expecting their No 1 hooker to be available in the early stages of their title defence.
