Former Lions tourist Julian White has extended his stellar career.
The 36-year-old has signed a new deal with current club Leicester Tigers that will keep him playing past his 38th birthday.
White toured New Zealand with the Lions in 2005, starting all three Tests against the All Blacks.
The ex-Bristol and Canterbury Crusaders tight-head appeared in a total of six fixtures for Britain and Ireland’s elite, with his debut coming as a 55th-minute replacement against Argentina in Cardiff.
He is also a World Cup winner with England and has picked up Guinness Premiership, Anglo-Welsh trophies with the Tigers, as well as featuring in two Heineken Cup Finals in 2007 and 2009.
White has made 140 appearances for the current English Champions since 2003 and currently has 51 England caps to his name.
"I’m still enjoying my rugby and my time at Leicester Tigers, so I was very pleased to agree a new contract at the club,” said White.
“This is a great place to play your rugby and any player wants that to continue as long as possible."
"Everyone knows what Julian brings to the game. He is in the very top category of scrummagers in world rugby and experience counts for a lot in the front row,” added Leicester head coach Richard Cockerill.
"He has been a great servant of Tigers over the last six years and is a popular guy with his colleagues and the supporters. I’m delighted that he has agreed terms to continue playing for us.
"Julian combines his rugby with his farming commitments and I’m sure he’d say that balance helps to keep him fresh and enthusiastic about the game."
