Lions legend Sir Ian McGeechan could be set for a new role within the English club game.
The man who led the Lions to South Africa last summer is being linked with a return to full-time rugby with Guinness Premiership semi-finalists Bath.
McGeechan has been working in advisory role with fellow West Country outfit Gloucester this season having left London Wasps at the end of last term but the 63-year-old is now rumoured to be a serious target for new Bath owner Bruce Craig.
The Daily Express reports that Craig wants McGeechan to move to the Rec in a director of rugby role, allowing current boss Steve Meehan and his coaching staff to concentrate solely on the playing side of the club.
McGeechan would be heavily involved in the proposed move away from the Rec to a new city-based ground, with his signing likely to be a potentially massive boost both on and off the field.
Since his return from his fifth Lions tour as a coach and his seventh in total, McGeechan has been in high demand.
The former Scotland centre, who played in eight successive Lions Tests in 1974 and 1977, was linked with the vacant Harlequins post, before being tipped to take over at recently relegated Worcester following his short-term role at Gloucester.
He has huge experience of the English game, having worked with Northampton Saints before leading Wasps to Guinness Premiership glory in 2008.
McGeechan has also already stated that he hopes to continue his Lions love affair by taking on a pre-tour planning role when the Lions travel to Australia in three years time.
