Former Lion Ryan Jones is aiming to enhance his chances of reaching a first ever World Cup by producing a barnstorming performance against England on Saturday.
The 2005 tourist has never appeared at the global gathering. Having arrived on the international stage a year after the 2003 tournament, Jones was set to feature four years later in France, only for a shoulder injury to cruelly rule him out.
But after making an immediate impact following his introduction in the 23-19 defeat at Twickenham last weekend, Jones is set to start in the Millennium Stadium return match.
"For everyone involved this weekend it's about giving yourself the best chance of selection and getting on that plane to New Zealand," said Jones.
"Going to a World Cup is something I'm desperate to do and I've dreamt of it for many years. Unfortunately I've never been part of one. People speak so highly of them, it's in a fantastic part of the world this time, arguably the biggest rugby nation. So for me it would be a fantastic achievement.
"I thoroughly enjoy playing for Wales and was glad to get involved last weekend. I just wanted to do myself proud and hopefully give the team a little something as well."
Jones, who saw his 2009 Lions call-up dashed by a head injury, reckons Wales can improve on last week's performance and gain revenge for their defeat.
"Although there were some positives, we were bitterly disappointed as it was another game that got away. But the courage and bravery we showed, especially the young guys, was fantastic.
"We were possibly under-cooked but we can take confidence from that performance. I imagine there will be changes from both teams. It will be a different day and you can't read too much into last week's game.
"But we're at home and should win. There's a huge amount of pressure every time you pull on that red jersey. That probably raises a little bit when you're at home."
