Gavin Henson looks set to join Cardiff Blues this week.
The 2005 Lion’s agent tweeted the news today, with Henson due to be officially unveiled tomorrow.
"Congratulations to Gavin Henson for signing with Cardiff Blues… great news!" was the message that appeared on the Arruga Sports feed.
Henson has been without a club since leaving Toulon at the end of last season but had been linked with three of the four Welsh regions, as well as French giants Stade Francais and a host of possible English suitors.
The 29-year-old held talks with former region the Ospreys, although the Swansea-based outfit insisted that meeting was out of courtesy for their previous employee rather than a definite interest in regaining his services.
The news finally puts an end to speculation surrounding the double Grand Slam winner’s future after a summer of uncertainty and former Wales centre partner Tom Shanklin is convinced the switch will be good for both Henson and Welsh rugby.
"I did speak to Gavin a few weeks ago… and he said he was talking to the Blues, and I thought that was a pretty good move for him," Shanklin told BBC Sport Wales.
"I think it's good for the Blues. There's a lot of controversy that follows Gav but he does seem like he really wants to get back into the game.
"He was very keen to put his boots back on and we saw glimpses pre-World Cup against England, until he injured himself, of what he's capable of.
"I think if his head's right then he'll be a great signing. We all want to see a fit Gavin Henson on the field, because we all know what he can do.
"If he's playing in Wales then that certainly makes Warren Gatland, Rob Howley and Shaun Edwards' job a lot easier because they can keep an eye on him. It's brilliant news for Welsh rugby."
Henson put all thoughts of his club career to one side while he attempted to win a place in the Wales squad for the World Cup but his dreams of appearing at a first global gathering came to a cruel end when injured his wrist in the Millennium Stadium encounter with England in August.
The 33-cap utility back had returned to the international fold for the first time in two years in the June defeat to the Barbarians and Wales coaches Gatland and Howley made it clear that a fully fit and fully focussed Henson would be a welcome part of their plans going forward.
It appears that Henson has primarily been signed as a fly-half, although Wales employed him in his more customary position in midfield in his two summer appearances.
