Lions legend Sir Ian McGeechan’s job is safe despite Bath’s poor first half of the season.
Bath currently sit 10th in the Aviva Premiership and are effectively out of the Heineken Cup with two rounds still to play.
McGeechan, who is director of rugby at The Rec, has now come in for heavy criticism from the Bath faithful who initially seemed pleased to see him handed more power at the club following the departure of head coach Steve Meehan last season.
But while supporters may be getting a little restless, owner Bruce Craig – the man who has ploughed millions into the club’s new training base at Farleigh Hungerford – is backing the 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2009 Lions boss to turn things around.
"Of course, I've got total confidence in Geech. You don't become a bad coach overnight," Craig told the Daily Telegraph.
"He's a brilliant rugby brain and been successful wherever he's been.
"I understand the views of supporters. But we're here for the long-term.
"I'm not the type to panic. I'm certainly not going to chuck the baby out with the bath water. We are on the right road at Bath."
Those views were echoed by Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld who expects a strong finish to the season and is still targeting a place in the Premiership play-offs.
"Ian is still the man for Bath – and I wish critics would speak to me because we are very clear on where we are going," Blofeld told The Sun.
"We are not looking to change the coaching panel and we are confident we have the right players.
"I was here two years ago when we went into Christmas 11th out of 12 and ended the season in the top four. I expect no less this season."
