Ben Lucas has been handed the Queensland Reds No.10 jersey for tomorrow’s Super Rugby clash with the Sharks.
With Quade Cooper suspended, Lucas is the only change to the side that clinched the play-off spot in last week’s victory over the Waratahs.
The reigning champions struggled at the beginning of the season while Cooper was injured but have won five on the bounce since his return.
But Lucas dismissed the notion that the Reds are reliant on the Wallaby maverick and insists he can guide his side to victory.
"I definitely don't think we are a one-man team. I think we have proven that throughout the year – we have spent most of the year without him,” said Lucas.
And the Reds are happy to put their faith in the rookie utility back.
''Ben has been training at 10 all week and the guys around him are very comfortable with the direction he gives the team as he has gained plenty of experience in the playmaking role during the last two seasons,'' added Reds coach Ewen McKenzie.
Queensland have won 21 of their past 23 games at Suncorp Stadium and boast a 6-2 record over the Sharks in Brisbane.
