Skipper Sam Warburton was among five British & Irish Lions squad members who helped Thomas Pink transform the legendary White Horse pub in Parsons Green into ‘The Pink Lion’ to celebrate the upcoming Tour to Hong Kong and Australia on Saturday.
The pop-up pub in South West London was transformed into a mecca for stylish rugby fans, featuring Astroturf bars, screenings of historic matches and homebrewed Pink Pints thanks to The Lions’ Official Outfitters.
To kick off the celebrations, Question of Sport presenter and Lions veteran Matt Dawson hosted a touch rugby session for 40 local young players on Parsons Green.
Members of the 2013 Lions squad including captain and Thomas Pink ambassador Warburton, George North, Rob Kearney, Ben Youngs and Geoff Parling joined in on the action, before presenting the players with a special Pink rugby ball as a memento of the event.
Following his success on Celebrity Masterchef, former Lions Test prop Phil Vickery gave supporters a taste of Australia, as he fired up the BBQ and served kangaroo burgers to the hungry crowd.
Later in the afternoon, over 1,000 rugby fans packed the Pink pub to hear the Lions Tales Q&A session with all the players, as they shared rugby anecdotes and dressing rooms stories before answering questions in their final public appearance before the Tour.
As the Official Outfitter for the team’s 125th Year anniversary adventure, Thomas Pink made sure all the players were looking their very best as they were kitted out in their official Thomas Pink Tour blazer and accompanying gold Lion tie. Fans were able to get their hands on signature items from the new Thomas Pink Lions Collection, including the official velvet smoking jacket, vintage print merino wool and silk scarf, gold-plated cufflinks, socks, ties and boxers.
