Qantas Wallabies captain James Horwill will face a judicial hearing in Melbourne tonight after being cited for stamping on Alun Wyn Jones in the first Test defeat to the British & Irish Lions in Brisbane.
Horwill was cited under Law 10.4 b – a player must not stamp or trample on an opponent. The alleged incident, which occurred in the third minute of the 23-21 victory for the tourists, was referred to the citing commissioner by the Lions.
The Wallabies have already moved on to Melbourne, where the second Test will be played at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, and Horwill’s hearing will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel.
Horwill had only just returned to the Test arena on Saturday after missing the whole of the 2012 international calendar through injury. He won his 36th cap in the Aussie second row against the Lions and led his country for the ninth time.
