As Alex Corbisiero reflects on the British & Irish Lions tour he remembers the bumps, the cuts and the bruises.
But most of all the English prop recollects the rush of adrenalin he felt when scoring after just two minutes in the decisive third Test against Australia.
Corbisiero is busy trying to find his feet at new club NorthamptonSaints this season after a summer move from London Irish, but his mind still wanders back Down Under.
The resounding 41-16 victory in the third and final Test began when the 25-year crossed the whitewash and he admits it’s a moment he will never forget.
“It was an unbelievable feeling (to score),” he said. “I was trying not to get too excited but it was awesome.
“This sport and last season was massively grind, the Lions tour was very tough on the body but rugby in general is tough on the body, you know what you’re in for when you sign up to play, it’s just part of the job.
“But winning that third test was outstanding, I’m really happy I scored but the overall performance; the set-piece, the penalties, the momentum we gained and then the way we finished strong, it was just a phenomenal day.”
