Davies on the road to recovery

Simon Easterby insists British & Irish Lion Jonathan Davies has every chance of playing a significant role in Wales’ Six Nations defence after revealing the centre is making great progress in his bid to battle back from injury.

Davies has been sidelined with a torn pectoral muscle but Scarlets’ medical staff believe the 25-year-old could well be back within a month.

Despite Davies’ current injury woes it didn’t stop his British & Irish Lion head coach Warren Gatland from naming him in his Wales squad for the Six Nations, with the game against England at Twickenham on March 9 the likely target for his return.

But Scarlets head coach Easterby believes Davies could very well be back in time for the Friday night clash with France at the Millennium Stadium on February 21 if he continues his remarkable recovery.

"Jon is doing really well; he is recovering very well, actually," Easterby told the South Wales Evening Post.

"The physios and conditioners have worked particularly hard with him and he has worked hard to give himself a chance to get back, hopefully in the next three to four weeks."
