British & Irish Lions scrum-half Mike Phillips insists he is rounding into form at just the right time.
The Racing Metro scrum-half, alongside the equally impressive Jonny Sexton, was at the forefront of the Parisian outfit’s best result of the season on Saturday as they trounced Toulouse 25-5 in the Top 14.
Sexton and Phillips both dotted down in the first half for Metro while fellow Lions Dan Lydiate and Jamie Roberts both impressed as well for the hosts.
And with Phillips now off to team up with Wales, the scrum-half insists the hard work is finally starting to pay off.
“This was a very important victory for us,” he said. “We controlled possession, the contact, in defence.
“We scored points when we made breaks, that was the big difference for us in this game.
“Everyone gave their all and put in a good performance.
“It’s great, I’m feeling better and better. We are all working extremely hard to get better and now it is starting to show.”
