British & Irish Lions centre Billy Twelvetrees admits he’s more than happy filling in at fly-half, having switched between the No.10 and No.12 shirts for Gloucester this season.
Twelvetrees is no stranger to the fly-half berth and has stepped in for the Cherry & Whites on multiple occasions.
On the international stage however, Twelvetrees wears No.12 and that is where he featured in his two Lions appearances last summer.
But Twelvetrees revealed fly-half is a position he enjoys playing.
“I really enjoy it at 10, you get to run the show and put boys in the right areas. It’s something I’m relishing and really looking forward to it,” he said.
“I run at 10 all the time in training and kick all the time so it’s not that different.
“There’s a slightly different thought process in terms of carrying less but purely from my point of view I want to be in the team and doing my best for the boys.
“It’s just more about game management and putting the boys in the right areas.
“At 12 you are the eyes for the fly-half and trying to see the spaces but now I have to be a bit more chilled out and play what’s in front of me and put the team in the right areas.”
