British & Irish Lion George North insists the lure of Super 15 rugby is not something that will tempt him to move anytime soon as milestones for his country are what currently drives him the most.
The 22-year-old has been a target of many southern hemisphere sides since his standout performances last summer during the Lions’ 2-1 Series victory against the Qantas Wallabies.
North however joined Premiership outfit Northampton Saints for a deal worth around £250,000 and has scored five tries so far during his debut season playing in England.
And although not ruling out a move in the distant future, North admits winning his 50th and 100th caps for Wales – he currently has 40 – are the main goals he wants to achieve first and foremost.
“If you watch Super 15 it’s awesome rugby. It’s a great brand to watch and I’d never rule it [playing Super 15] out,” he told Wales Online. “But for now I’m happy where I am and I’ll keep on going.
“I just want to keep playing and enjoying my rugby. A big milestone for me is to win my 50th cap and 100th cap for my country. I haven’t really looked any further than that at the moment.
“I’ve got a big end of season now with the Saints and the short-term goal is getting to the finals.”
