British & Irish Lions hooker Tom Youngs will miss England’s summer tour to New Zealand to remain at home to support his wife who is requiring treatment for an illness – the RFU have announced.
Youngs spent last summer Down Under with the British & Irish Lions, featuring in all three Tests against Australia as Warren Gatland’s men secured an historic 2-1 series victory.
However he will spend this summer instead of the land of the long white cloud at home in order to be with his ill wife Tiffany.
England head coach Stuart Lancaster said: “Our thoughts are with Tom and Tiffany at this time and it is entirely right that he stays at home to support her and their daughter Maisie.
“Everyone in the England squad sends them our best wishes.”
