British & Irish Lions winger George North believes his decision to move to Northampton Saints has been vindicated ahead of their forthcoming finals.
North, who scored two tries in the Lions’ Test series win over Australia last summer, joined Saints soon after and he scored his ninth try for the club in their Premiership semi-final win over Leicester Tigers.
This weekend he is set to line up for Saints in the European Challenge Cup final and a week later, Northampton will lock horns with Saracens in the English Premiership final at Twickenham.
And North is relishing the chance to add more winners’ medals to his Lions success.
“Anyone who doesn't get excited or doesn't want to play in a final shouldn't be anywhere near the game,” said North.
“I came here to be part of a winning squad and to win some silverware.
“Hopefully I've done enough to put my hand up to be involved in these two finals.
“It's been almost a two-year season for me but these are the days that you dig in for, like in the dark months of December, when it's raining hard and you can't feel your hands.”
