Lion Hogg ‘happy’ at Glasgow Warriors

British & Irish Lion Stuart Hogg has reaffirmed his commitment to Glasgow Warriors, despite losing his starting XV berth at the club towards the end of last season.

The full-back’s future at the Warriors was unclear after he was left out of the squad for their final two games of the season against Munster and Leinster.

Peter Murchie was Glasgow boss Gregor Townsend’s preferred choice for the run-in but Hogg started – and scored – for Scotland in a win against the USA on the weekend to kick off the Vern Cotter era.

And the 21-year-old, who appeared five times on tour for the Lions last summer, insists he remains in the right place to fulfil his domestic ambitions.

“I'm happy at Glasgow, it's a club going in the right direction," said Hogg, who was also hit by injury last season.

“We've been in two semi-finals and a final in the last three years. So, it's a club going in the right direction. Hopefully next year we can get that win.

“A lot of the pressure's been put on me for not performing but, at the end of the day, Peter Murchie has been playing out of his skin.

“He's taken his chances when they've been on offer. Credit where credit's due, he's been spot on in his play and I can't grumble being stuck behind him.”
