British & Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton has called on his countrymen to end their unwelcome record against the Southern Hemisphere’s big three.
Warburton, whose Lions team got the better of Australia last summer, has not had much joy against the Wallabies, South Africa or New Zealand when pulling on a Wales shirt.
Warren Gatland’s Wales have recorded just one win against the big three in 26 attempts after a last-gasp 31-30 defeat to the Springboks on Saturday.
And Warburton admitted the Welsh side are making clear progress but he is determined to convert that into wins as soon as possible.
“Enough is enough, we have got to beat those sides,” he told WalesOnline.
“But that’s just got to be the catalyst for the future to kick on. The difference, for example, was South Africa were six points behind with three minutes to go.
“There was a heck of a lot of pressure on them as a team to deliver, but they played and they got the try.”
