Bowe pays tribute to departed Anscombe

Tommy Bowe has praised Mark Anscombe’s "no nonsense attitude" as the British and Irish Lions wing comes to terms to life without the head coach at Ulster.

Anscombe left his position with the club on Monday and has been replaced by interim head coach Les Kiss.

And Bowe, who played his part in two of the Lions’ three Tests against Australia last summer, says the Kiwi coach will be missed.

"I enjoyed working under Mark," Bowe told the Belfast Telegraph.

"He had a no-nonsense attitude to things, which I think is very good. A guy who comes in and tells the players straight what he thinks is what is needed in the professional game.

"Over the last couple of years he's been a breath of fresh air. It is unfortunate, I was looking forward to working with him again this year but I think it's just the way things have panned out."
