Kingsley Jones insists there is plenty of room for both Andy Powell and Taulupe Faletau to flourish at Newport Gwent Dragons this season.
British & Irish Lion Faletau was the Dragons’ first choice No.8 last campaign however his commitments to Wales means the 23-year-old won’t always be around.
This promoted the Dragons to bring in reinforcements and looked no further than another British & Irish Lion in Powell, bringing the Welshman back to where he started his career from rugby league side Wigan Warriors.
And while pair will be looking to cement themselves a spot in the Dragons’ starting XV, assistant coach Jones is adamant there is plenty of room for them both to flourish at Rodney Parade this season.
“There is a lot asked of Toby by Wales and Powell will get his opportunities at eight and play alongside Toby at six or seven,” Jones told Wales Online.
“I don’t see that being an issue for us. I have been in this situation before when I was at Sale Sharks and we had four or five internationals playing, with some of them in the same position like hooker with England’s Andy Titterrell and Sebastien Bruno (France).
“We could not change anything last July, but now we are hoping to improve. It’s not right to set targets, but now our performances are going to be a lot better.”
