After making a comeback appearance in New Zealand’s 74-6 win over the USA, fly-half Dan Carter says the All Blacks should be wary ahead of their trip to Twickenham to face England.
Carter was making his first appearance for New Zealand – who host the British & Irish Lions in 2017 – for almost a year due to injury.
It was his 101st cap for the All Blacks and he admitted he was pleased to come through it unscathed but knows facing England will be a different prospect entirely.
"It came through extremely well,I didn't think about it or feel it throughout the game, which was pleasing,” said Carter.
“It's been challenging the last couple of months. All the hard work has paid off and I'll keep building.
"Things are going to step up a lot next week against an England side that are right up there. They are a tough side to play. We're going to have to move on from this straight away."
However, while Carter might be eyeing a starting berth against Stuart Lancaster’s side, New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen said he was unlikely to be risked.
“Dan Carter, you know, you’d expect it when he’s been out so long, he was nervous. But he’s played himself back into a Test match and that’s good,” said Hansen.
“This soon, against someone like England, we might be better off giving him another opportunity against someone like Scotland. We’ll wait and see.”
