British & Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton will be champing at the bit to make his return after recovering from injury – but Cardiff Blues director of rugby Mark Hammett admits the flanker faces a fight on his hands to get back in the starting XV.
Warburton sat out of the Blues' 24-14 European victory over London Irish at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday after picking up a few knocks while on international duty.
In his absence Warburton's fellow openside Josh Navidi has been moved to No.8 and has impressed – being named man of the match in the last two games.
Ellis Jenkins and Macauley Cook have also shone on the flanks and Hammett insists Warburton – who led the British & Irish Lions to a 2-1 series victory Down Under in 2013 – might have to bide his time.
"Sam has got through the weekend really well and got through a heavy session this morning, so he's looking good to play a part," Hammett told Wales Online.
"When you look at our loose forward trio over the last couple of weeks, they have been outstanding, led obviously by Josh Navidi.
"They have all played their part, so it's a tough decision, but it's better to have those ones than finding it easy."
