Newport Gwent Dragons director of rugby Lyn Jones is urging Taulupe Faletau to up his game heading into the Christmas period.
The British and Irish Lions No.8 came off the bench in the Dragons’ record 69-17 win over Bucharest Wolves last Saturday.
But the back row has not started for the region since playing in Wales' 12-6 win over South Africa in November.
And now Faletau faces a battle to regain his place in the side after Lewis Evans impressed while filling in for the 24-year-old when he was away on international duty.
Jones insists that Faletau, who started the Series clinching Test against Australia last summer, must improve his overall game if he is to cement his place in the starting line up.
"The challenge for Toby is to become a good team player for us. The first thing for him is to get on the team sheet," he said.
"He had a tough autumn with national side and we have tried to look after him with his air time.
"He came on after half time against Bucharest and was back to his speedy best but being a team is far better than having good individuals."
