British & Irish Lion Jonathan Davies believes the Wales backline will be under pressure to perform when they take on Italy this Saturday.
Davies is one of eight players in the Wales starting XV who went on the Lions’ tour of Australia in 2013.
Wales were impressive in a hard-fought 23-16 victory over Ireland last time out which included a last-gasp defensive stand on their own tryline.
But Warren Gatland’s troops have scored just five tries in their previous four games and Davies acknowledges that record must improve.
“As a backline we probably haven't been as clinical or as threatening as we'd like to be,” said the centre.
“The forwards work tirelessly for us. We need to make sure on Saturday that we take our chances.”
Wales’ only try in the 23-16 win last weekend came after 61 minutes from replacement centre Scott Williams.
That score highlighted the depth at Gatland’s disposal and Davies claims it will once again be a whole squad effort against the Azzurri on Saturday.
“Scott [Williams] for a number of years has scored some key tries and the whole bench came on and had a real emphasis and freshened things up,” added Davies.
“So it's great for the squad as a whole and Saturday is going to be exactly the same.
“We are going to need 23 players who are full of energy, full of want and making sure that we get the result that we need.”
