Shane Williams prepares to play again

Shane Williams, The British & Irish Lions and Wales legend, is set to come out of retirement one final time for local club Amman United.

The 39-year-old played his last Test in 2011 before seemingly bowing out of the game in 2012.

However he decided to extend his playing career with a move to Japan before joining up with the Lions in 2013 on their Tour to Australia to take part in a game against the Brumbies.

That was his third Lions Tour, having also travelled to New Zealand in 2005, and South Africa four years later.

He played in four Tests for the Lions over that time before his cameo appearance in 2013 and his playing days appeared to be behind him after a final season in Japan with the Mitsubishi Dynaboars in 2015.

However he is now set to turn out for hometown club Amman, as he helps them reverse a recent slump in fortune.

“I’m helping out with the coaching and will play the odd cameo,” Williams told Wales Online.

“I think I’m on a free jug of beer for every hat-trick I score!”
