talkSPORT named as exclusive audio broadcast partner
  • The British & Irish Lions have reappointed talkSPORT as exclusive audio broadcast partner for this summer’s highly anticipated Tour to Australia.

Across 10 games, talkSPORT will deliver more than 200 hours of coverage featuring live match commentary, dedicated programmes and podcasts from Australia.

This will be talkSPORT’s fourth consecutive Tour as audio broadcast partner of the Lions, 12 years on from their debut 2013 Tour in Australia.

The deal was announced live on air by former Ipswich Town, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Scotland striker Alan Brazil and his co-host Gabby Agbonlahor, the ex Aston Villa and England forward.

As part of the agreement, talkSPORT will provide exclusive live match commentary for every game of the Series. There will also be coverage of the 1888 Cup match against Argentina in Dublin – the first time the Lions play in Ireland. Lions supporters can also engage with talkSPORT interactively throughout the Tour, on social media or by phoning in to join the conversation with their expert team of pundits.

Tom Halsey, Chief Commercial Officer of The British & Irish Lions, said: “It’s brilliant to be working with talkSPORT again for our fourth Tour together.

“The team were an outstanding broadcast partner to The British & Irish Lions during the 2013, 2017, and 2021 Tours and we look forward to building on our successful partnership.

“Thousands of fans back home will be listening as the action unfolds, and we are delighted to have talkSPORT providing our loyal supporters with the highest quality build-up, commentary, analysis and discussion.”

Head of talkSPORT Liam Fisher said: “We’re delighted to be bringing The British & Irish Lions Tour to our listeners for another exciting summer of world-class rugby.

“talkSPORT is incredibly proud of our relationship with the Lions – and it is fitting to be back in Australia, where it all started, for our fourth Tour together.

“The talkSPORT team can’t wait to be on ground down under to bring you all the games, all the commentaries, and all the action for what promises to be another gripping Series.”

After the Lions face Argentina at Aviva Stadium on Friday, June 20, the First Test of the Qatar Airways Lions Men’s Series against the Wallabies is on Saturday, July 19 at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the Second Test on Saturday, July 26, with the Third and final Test at Sydney’s Accor Stadium in Sydney’s Olympic Park on Saturday, August 2.

The Tour also includes pre-Test fixtures in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, and Melbourne.
