Worcester have been boosted by the news that their ambitious £23million development plans for Warriors’ Sixways stadium complex have moved a step closer.
Ruth Kelly, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, has decided not to intervene with Worcester’s application, which includes increasing ground capacity to 13,200 through a new North Stand.
The final decision now lies with Wychavon District Council, but the project – also featuring a health centre and racquet club – appears firmly on course for the club’s completion date by season 2008-09.
In addition to the stand, a proposed leisure complex will include swimming pools, tennis courts, multi-purpose sports hall and gym.
