British & Irish Lions full-back Rob Kearney is confident Ireland are putting the disappointment of defeat to Wales behind them as they prepare to face Scotland at Murrayfield this weekend.
A stunning defensive display from the hosts, inspired by British & Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton, ensured Ireland saw their run of ten consecutive victories ended by a 23-16 defeat at the Millennium Stadium.
While Kearney, a veteran of two Lions tours including the 2-1 series win against Australia in 2013, admits Ireland’s performance warranted criticism, he insists that spirits remain high in camp.
And with Scotland hoping to reverse their recent poor fortunes, the 28-year-old is urging his side to avoid the mistakes of last weekend to get back to winning ways.
"You could say that right across the board for the majority of the team, every single player will probably pick a few instances or moments where they could have contributed a bit better to the team,” he said.
“I'm not surprised at the criticism and the pessimism but we're fully aware of moods within our own camp – the main thing for us is that there's no pessimism within the team room.
“Joe Schmidt was very quick to make sure that we turned the page quite quickly and looked forward to Scotland, a huge Test match on Saturday.
“We'll look to do better at some of the things we're not satisfied with, but at the same time I think it's very important that we don't get too caught up and we continue to look forward and get the minds focused on Saturday.”
