British & Irish Lions hooker Tom Youngs is set to be thrown in at the deep end this weekend and play from the start after ten weeks out injured.
Youngs, who featured in all three Tests as the British & Irish Lions triumphed against Australia last year, suffered a shoulder injury when club side Leicester Tigers suffered their heaviest ever Premiership defeat at the hands of Bath in September.
However, with Leicester in uncharacteristically poor form, director of rugby Richard Cockerill is keen to fast track his star No.2 back into first team action against Wasps on Saturday.
“Tom will be fit. He may well start,” said Cockerill.
“He will certainly be fresh and he will certainly give you some impetus from a scrum, ball carrying and aggression point of view. That is exactly what we need.”
Lions and Leicester team-mate Geoff Parling suffered concussion in the same game, but is being primed for a return to the pitch later this month.
