Conor Murray admits last summer’s British & Irish Lions tour was a huge success – but the scrum-half already has his eyes on the next big challenge.
Murray played in two of the Lions’ three Tests against Australia, including the decisive 41-16 victory in Sydney.
Yet while the Irish international says he enjoyed the celebrations Down Under, there is always another victory to chase for the 25-year-old – with the 2017 tour to New Zealand potentially on his mind.
“Those times, like the Lions tour, they were successful, but a week later no one is talking about them. You want to win the next big thing,” he said.
“I don’t see it as pressure. When you are younger, you dream of playing in the big games, of being a big player or whatever they want to label you as – I enjoy that responsibility.
“Over the last couple of years, I found myself getting a bit better and becoming more confident and trusting myself more with that added so-called pressure.
“The bigger the game, there are probably more nerves but I enjoy that a bit more as well.”
