Injury hampered Tommy Bowe upon his return from the British & Irish Lions, but the wing insists the world will see him back to his best in an Ireland jersey next year.
Bowe, 30, had to contend with a broken hand while helping the Lions to their first Test series victory in 16 years last summer – but consecutive wrist and groin injuries ground his season to a halt.
He has not appeared for Ireland since November though did come back in time to contribute to Ulster’s run-in, playing four full domestic games across April and May.
And with the World Cup looming in 2015, Bowe is confident he can ward off any further setbacks to enter the tournament in full flight.
“Being injured is by far the worst part of playing rugby. It’s my 11th year. I was fortunate,” said Bowe.
“I’ve had eight years of pretty much no injuries but the last years have been hell. Hopefully this is my year.
“It’s the World Cup at the end of the year and hopefully I will get back involved in that and we’ll see how we go.”
