Alun Wyn Jones believes Wales still have a point to prove against Australia despite captaining the British & Irish Lions to a series victory over the Qantas Wallabies just four months ago.
The Welsh lock led the Lions in the decisive 41-16 win in Sydney, skippering a side containing ten of his countrymen in the starting line-up.
But the 28-year-old insists the triumph Down Under will have no bearing when Wales welcome the Aussies to the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
“We were part of a greater squad,” he said. “A combination of nations. We’re not arrogant enough to think that counts as a Welsh triumph.
"As individuals we learned a lot, but as a collective we’ve still got to do it as a Welsh side against one of these big southern hemisphere teams.”
In the past five years, Wales have registered a single victory against a southern hemisphere side – against Australia in 2008 – but have lost their last eight against the Wallabies.
The last four defeats have been by a combined margin of just 13 points, and Jones added: “At least three of those games we should have won but the scoreline tells us different.
“We have been there or thereabouts and we feel we are perfectly capable of doing it, but that’s not good enough.”
