Lions prop Euan Murray has been forced to withdraw from Scotland’s tour of Argentina.
The 2009 Lions squad member had been named in Andy Robinson’s touring party but will now spend the summer resting.
Murray, who had been in contention for a Lions Test spot before injury brought his tour to a premature end, is currently suffering problems with both ankles.
"Following consultation between our medical team and the medics at Euan’s club, Northampton, the decision has been taken in the interests of the player for Euan to undergo a period of rest, treatment and rehabilitation for differing injuries affecting both ankles," said Scotland and Lions doctor James Robson.
Murray’s place in the Scotland squad will be taken by Edinburgh’s Geoff Cross, with new Worcester Warriors signing Bruce Douglas stepping up to the A squad due to Cross’ promotion.
